Leonie Desravines

Obituary of Leonie Desravines

Leonie Desravines was born on Wednesday July 17, 1934, at 8am, in Pignon, Haiti to Selfica Alcina (professional seamstress) and Aga Valcin (builder and farmer). By age seventeen Leonie had completed her education, met and married Ernest Desravines. They settled in Hinche and added three children to their union. In pursuit of a better life, the family later relocated to her family home built by her father in Port-au-Prince Haiti. After the passing of her husband, Leonie was determined to make a better life for her children, and migrating to America was her dream. In 1988, with the help of her eldest son, Emmanuel, she started her American life in Miami, Florida. It didn't take her long to get acclimated and become an active member of Jerusalem French SDA Church. She served as deaconess, sang in the choir, and helped the community as a Dorcas. Her family grew to include grandchildren. Each of her children moved to diffierent cities to pursue their American dreams. For years Leonie shared her time between Port Charlotte and Port Saint Lucie in Florida, as she continued to care for her children and grandchildren. Finallly Leonie chose to stay in Port Charlotte and spent the last two decades of her life there. One of her favorite pass times was taking her known long walks. Leonie was a life-long and devoted member of the SDA Church; she served wherever she went. She served Bethanie as a deaconess, singing, and serving the community. After a brief illness Leonie sadly left us on September 22, 2023. She is survived by her children: Emmanuel Desravines (Martine), Ketnie Telfort (Joseph), Lunie Jeune (Vilson). Her grandchildren: Soraya Martial, Emmanuel Desravines (Lorraine), Tchirena Jeune, Samuella Nettles (Jalen), Tchael Jeune, Josenie Telfort, r Leonardi Jeune, Ethan Desravines. Her great grandchildren: Janiya Ervin, Isaiah Ervin and Evelyn Desravines. Sisters: Iranie Jerome, Suze Dormus. Granny was a prayer warrior, strong, dedicated, funny, selfless. She is now resting peacefully, waiting for her Lord and Savior. Acknowledgement From The Family In times of grief and loss, the support and presence of loved ones can provide solace and comfort.
