Obituary of Shirley D McDaniel

Shirley Darlena McDaniel, 85, of Port Charlotte passed away September 4, 2023. She was born May 19, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Vearl Pittser and Margaret Carl Pittser. Shirley was a military wife who happily supported her husband Bob’s deployments. Together they moved to various stations across the country, including Anchorage, Alaska where she worked as head teller at a local bank. After retirement, they moved to a beautiful lake house in Bremen, Indiana. They later relocated to Florida, in 1995 where they enjoyed the remainder of their lives together. Both Shirley and Bob were devoted Catholics who worked tirelessly for the church for as long as they were able. Both were members of St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. In addition to her parents Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert J. McDaniel, brother, Bill Carl and sister, V. Jocille Shields (Pittser) Survivors include a Brother-in-law, Thomas (Sharon) McDaniel, Nephew, Daniel (Rosa) Shields, Nephew, Joseph (Carla) Culp, Niece, Kelli (Kurt) Easton, Niece, Frances Young, Niece, Sharon Polson, Nephew, James (Susie) Carl , Nephew, Al (Julie) Carl. A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Monday September 11, 2023 at St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church located at 21505 Augusta Ave Port Charlotte, (941 625 Interment will follow in Charlotte Memorial Cemetery 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Rd, Punta Gorda Fl In Lieu of flowers please make memorial tributes to The Alzheimer's Association @ alz.org
