Obituary of Theresa Mary Meneely

Theresa Mary Meneely, nee Verbosky, 88, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023 from late stage Parkinson’s and heart disease. Theresa was born December 14, 1934 in Smock, PA, to Veronica and Stephen Verbosky. She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1953 after her family moved to Warren, OH. There she met the love of her life, Donald James Meneely, on the swings at Packard Park. They married on May 15, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church and raised three sons, Robert, John and James in Warren. The Meneely’s followed their sons and moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 1996. Theresa enjoyed gardening, crochet, cooking traditional Slovak and Hungarian meals, square dancing and watching Tampa Bay Ray’s baseball. However, her biggest joy in life was just spending time with family and friends. She lost her beloved husband Donald just three and a half months ago; together they lovingly took care of each other into their golden years in their Punta Gorda home. Theresa is survived by her sons John (Kathleen) Meneely and James (Tina) Meneely, grandchildren Donald, Ciarra and Ashley, all of Punta Gorda, FL. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Joseph, Stephen, Andrew, John and Vincent, sister Bernadette Matchuzak, her husband Donald and son Robert A. Meneely. At Theresa’s request, there will not be a funeral service and interment will be at Charlotte Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice organization of your choice.
