Obituary of Joseph Lauro, Jr.

Joseph J. Lauro, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 27, 2023, at his home in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was 70 years old. He was born in Linden, NJ to parents Joseph Lauro, Sr., and Gertrude (Huck) Lauro, on May 13, 1953, as the youngest of 3 children. He spent much of his time in Linden, NJ where he graduated from Linden High School. He later married and spent his adult years in Metuchen, NJ where he and former wife, Jacqueline raised their son, Christopher. Joe moved to Florida in his sixties, where he decided to spend his senior years. He was an avid fisherman. He could often be found in the early morning hours on a local fishing pier casting, catching, and releasing many of those Florida fishes. Another passion of his was music and playing his guitars. Early in his middle school years, he took up playing the guitar, forming several bands, who became well-known local favorites in his community. Joe worked in the music field becoming a technician and “roadie” for the Blue Oyster Cult national band. He sometimes played bit parts for the band when they needed an extra guitarist. After leaving the band life, he attended DeVry Technical Institute to become a computer technician. He worked for many years repairing in this trade before moving on to positions with a plumbing supply and water filtration company. Throughout all this time he never relinquished his love of music and fishing. He leaves behind a son, Christopher. Family members include sister, Christine (Lauro) Delaney and husband, John, brother Peter Lauro and wife Patricia and their 2 children; Peter, and wife Stephanie and their 2 children; Mia, and Giovanni; Nicole (Lauro) DeLorenzo and husband, Sebastian along with their 2 children, Harper, and Sebastian (Tre). His presence in our lives will be missed by us all.
