Obituary of Richard Stanley Liddell

Richard S. Liddell of Punta Gorda passed away Friday, June 23, 2023 with his loving wife at his side. Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on October 29, 1938 to Frank Richard and Irene Mabel (Maynard) Liddell. A graduate of Flint Northern High School with the Class of 1957, Richard graduated from Mott Community College. He resided in Flint, Michigan until moving to Punta Gorda in October 2003 Richard served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He spent his working career with General Motors Corporation, retiring in June 1992 as Safety Director. A Master Mason (1973), Richard was a member of Araba Shrine Center in Fort Myers FL and a past member of Elf Khurafeh in Clio, Michigan. He held numerous offices in both organizations. He was also a life member of Elks BPOE 2606 in Punta Gorda. Golf and reading filled Richard's days in retirement. On October 24, 1986, he married Shirley (Charchan) Evans who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Cathy (Kevin) Cronkright; grandchildren Pastor Tyler (Brandi) Cronkright, Shelby (Michael) Cooper, Shane Liddell and Samantha Jo Liddell; great-grandson Beckham; sister, Maggie McClaren; bonus daughter, Deanna (Larry) Heishman; and bonus great-grandson Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark and two sisters, Rosemary Vallier and Helen Dore.
