Don Sanasac

Obituary of Don Sanasac

It is with great sadness and with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Don Sanasac on May 11, 2023. Don was 92 years “young” and enjoyed his life to its fullest until his heart couldn’t go any longer for him. He died of congestive heart failure in Hospice with his family and friends and his dog, Muffie, by his side. Don was born in Portland, Oregon in 1931, but he spent most of his life in Southern California before moving to Punta Gorda with his wife, Patrice. Don was married five times. He married his first wife twice then married his next wife, Liz, once and finally married Patrice once in 1977 and then again in 2003. He had many interests including snow skiing, water skiing, and tennis, but his most cherished pastime was racing sports cars. When he was younger, he traveled throughout the US competing in amateur sports car races. He raced at Watkins Glenn in New York, Laguna Seca in California and Riverside in California to name just a few. He raced a Sunbeam Tiger, an Austen Healey and a black Corvette. Don is survived by his wife, Patrice, and his sons Cragar and Michael and his daughter Shelly Huff. A Celebration of Life for Don will be held on June 24.
