Obituary of Albert Robert Govin

Albert Robert Govin, 80 years old, born January 31, 1943, to Albert and Hilda Govin, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, February 24th, 2023. He is survived by his sister Sandra Cross and four children Greg Govin, Cheryl Simonton, Linda Govin, and Terri Wolf. Born in West Bend Wisconsin, he spent his life making memories with family. He carried with him the spirit of his late wife, Mary Jane Govin and shared her memory with every person he met. Though she is no longer with us, he always made it feel like she was there. Anybody who knew Albert knew he was a man of outstanding character, morals, and exceptionally good hair. While raising his four children there were many summers spent in Oconomowoc on the lake, taking the RV on cross-country trips and firework displays grand enough for the entire lakefront. Al always made sure his family was taken care of. On a late night, that meant making breakfast for dinner. For his grandchildren Ryan Govin, Lauren, Ashley, Mia and Andrea Simonton, and Kevin, Ryan and Perry Wolf, it was the gift of candy raisins and lessons of responsibility. For his great-grandchild, James Henry he will be known as a hard-working man who knew how to fix almost anything. Later in his life, he became the LEE County Fossil Club president. He also accumulated a movie collection that he enjoyed with his dog Romeo. He was a builder, a business owner and so much more to so many. We are thankful for our time with him and will continue to see Al in lake sunsets, hear him in full-belly laughs, and feel his presence when gathered with family. In lieu of flowers, we encourage anyone who knew him to share their favorite memories with the family.
