Obituary of Delmar V Thorrington

Delmar Vance Thorrington, born 1941, in Kokomo, Indiana, passed Sunday, June 26, 2022 peacefully at his home in Punta Gorda, FL. In 1969, Del moved to Southwest Florida where he initially worked for the Fort Myers News-Press in the art and advertising departments. Del was a business owner in Lee County, owning Del Thorrington Advertising and Carousel Carpets. Del was an avid fisherman and member of the Florida Outdoor Writers Association. With a passion for working on unique automobiles, Del enjoyed being outside on the water or working on his latest project. Del was a loving husband, supportive father, and proud grandfather. He is survived by his wife and companion of 52 years, Jane Thorrington; daughters Charla Dykes (Bruce), Meri Nantz (Darren), Alisa Moore (Tom), Vanessa Thorrington; grandchildren Noah Nantz, Rachel Dykes, Zoe Moore, Walter Moore. Del’s favorite charity was St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
