Obituary of Paul James Martindale Sr.

Port Charlotte, FL/Wolcott, NY: Paul James Martindale, Sr entered into eternal rest on September 3, 2021 at the age of 88. He was born on June 26, 1933 in Syracuse, NY to Marion Tinkum Martindale and Josephine Corbett Martindale. He worked at Crucibal Steel in Syracuse, as well as Xerox in Webster, NY. Paul was a veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS Stephen Potter-DD538. He was a former member of the Wolcott Vol. Fire Dept, Wolcott American Legion, Wolcott Elks Club#1763, and was a member of the Port Charlotte American Legion. Paul enjoyed flying, golf, reading, dancing, roller skating, snowmobiling, water skiing, riding his bicycle, bowling and performing with the Red Creek Community Players. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Marion and Josephine Martindale, a stillborn sibling, step-mother Ruth, step-brothers Harold, Robert and Harry Avery, and sister-in-law Elinor Avery. Paul is survived by daughters Deborah Gillette of Wolcott, NY and Betsy (Scott) Kalman of Sparta, NJ; sons Jeffrey (Susan) Martindale of Melbourne, FL and Paul "Jim"(Kim) Martindale, Jr. of Wolcott, NY; grandchildren Joel, Jeremy, Sarah, Nathan, Jon, Nicholas, and Hannah; great-grandchildren Madisyn, Kiara, Andrew, and Nahum; great-great-granddaughter Khloe; sister-in-law Jean Avery; nieces and nephews; and special friend Roberta Cottrell. Burial arrangements by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Burial will be held on September 16, 2021 at 10:30am at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL with full Navy Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice House, Venice, FL. Any Veteran's organization, or any charity of your choice.
