Obituary of Marie L. Borbone

Marie L. Borbone of Punta Gorda, FL, and Worcester, MA passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2021 after a long battle with renal disease. Marie had a successful kidney transplant in 2011, and lived a happy and productive life until the end. She was grateful every day to the anonymous kidney donor that helped her live a good life. Marie was born in Worcester to Joseph and Barbara Borbone. She graduated from Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing and practiced nursing for 44 years. To her, it wasn’t just a career, it was who she was. Marie was also an ardent baseball fan. Team names didn’t matter as much as her love of the game. While she followed many sports, it was her love of baseball that brought her much joy. Marie leaves her partner of 21 years, Kathleen M. Cullen. She leaves her brother, Joseph Borbone (Sandra) of Worcester MA, and four nephews, Joshua, Adam, Jay and Jon. She also leaves her sister in law, DorothyAnn Borbone. Marie was predeceased by her parents and oldest brother James V. Borbone. In lieu of flowers and donations, Marie has requested that if you are not a kidney donor, please become one. If you can’t be a donor, please encourage your family and friends to do so. There will be a gathering of friends and family at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery on September 17, 2021 from 4pm-5pm. The service will begin at 5pm. Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery is located at 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, Florida 33950. We request that face coverings be worn so that we can protect each other.
