Obituary of Gary Stenglein

Gary Bernard Stenglein (Tex), passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the age of 79. He was born January 10, 1941, in Marquette, Michigan. Preceding him in death were his parents Bernard John and Opal Marie (Lenz) Stenglein, his sister Diane, and a brother Bruce. He leaves behind his partner Jaynee (Sweet Thang), Jaynee's children, his brother Dan, his sister Diane, and his sister-in-law Bonnie, all of Port Charlotte Florida, as well as many cousins and extended family in Michigan and Florida. After high school, Gary entered the United States Air Force and served four years. He was a patrolman with the San Antonio Police Department from 1970 to 1992 and retired after 22 years of service. After retirement, Gary relocated to Port Charlotte, Florida. His passion was his Honda Goldwing motorcycle, on which he and Jaynee toured America. He was active in many military and police associations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #5690, National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #66, BlueKnights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Chapter XVI, Retired Law Enforcement Association of Southwest Florida, the American Legion and the Legion Riders of Post #110, the Elks Lodge #2763, the Moose Riders Lodge #2121, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3296. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Tex would have wanted everyone to lift a glass and have one on him. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
