My deepest condolences to Miss Betty’s family and friends. Miss Betty was very straight forward and to the point with her advice. Her advice was like fine wine. I will always cherish the moments I had with her. May she Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory.

Grandma, Ive been quiet and reflective with your passing as you requested I have kept my feelings and opinions to myself.. I think about our conversations and hear your voice and laugh as we update each other on what's going on in the family. I know you wanted to keep the family together and at times you would get frustrated with us, but no matter what it may have been you would make sure everything was fair. I'm slowly accepting the reality of what is,instead of feeling sad I think of our experiences together and how strong and outspoken you have always been, even during what would be your last days you let it be known you have a voice. One thing you told me from young was to speak up for yourself and don't let anyone unfair me. With that being said I want to thank you. Love you Grandma, miss you.. I've kept my word and did what you asked ... fair is fair lol well doesn't seem to feel that way.

Graditude to Jan
Today I woke up with heart breaking grief missing my mom then read your post letting me know you have been my strength with your humour, love, author, stories of you beening mom's "rolloping buddy", my sister's best friend, a daughter-cousin to them both. You sent your matriarchal/ancestorial support angels (N & T) to let me know I am not alone, the importance of family and as difficult as those months were with mom they were also a give from GOD. I will be forever grateful to have you in my life!

On 31March 2020, we lost a wonderful mother, adviser and courageous woman. I am so honored to have been her daughter. I am grieving for the amazing relationship I had with her. I am grieving for my brother and his family who can*t be present at her burial due to restrictions on travel as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. They have lost a true friend, mother and grandmother. We have all suffered a huge loss.
My memory of mom was that she loved going to the Salvation Army in Port Charlotte with her friends to sing uplifting songs and at Christmas time she made sure that all her neighbors who lived in her block would be guaranteed a meal by her gifting to them food items such :whole turkeys, sorrel, cakes and coconut bread, because she believed everyone should have a meal during the festive season. This was something she inherited as a child growing up in Barbados with her family. Then mom and I would have our own Christmas or Thanksgiving meal to fuel our shopping expeditions to the outlets, a trip ti siesta Keys beach, farmers markets or find plants/seeds to add to her incredible gardens.
I*ve learnt to have an appreciation for driving as my mother can be considered as having *hot feet* as she never liked to be home especially after retirement, Her friends in New York and Florida can attest to her addiction to shopping as evident in her sense of style and dressing and the beautiful decor found in her home..
Mom taught us all what is really important in life - to love, support and care for friends and family in our lives. We are all better off for having known her. It was a great privilege to be her daughter.
Mom as you take you rest in your eternal home leaving to mourn your children, Arthur (Taalib) and I as well as your sisters Verne and Joycelyn, Grand Children * Natalie, Tiffany, Justin, Sekou, Omar, Samya and Safullia, Nieces- Jan, Margaret, Gail, Sonia, Erskine(Tony), Dirlene, Hasinia, Rene, April, and Anthony be assured that your legacy will live on in us who loved you and are blessed to have had you around for so many years.
Mom, I love you so much and wish that we had more time together. I will cherish all of the great memories we had and will carry your values with me. You will be missed by all and your memory will live in us all forever. Rest in Peace.

Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Because a loved one’s gone.
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
Far as long as there is memory,
You'll live on in my heart.
Bye Bye Aunt Betty.
From Your loving Niece ....Jan (Barbados)

Dearest Aunt Betty
We were so very blessed to call you Aunt . You were always there for us during our childhood in Barbados and treated us more like your children than nieces. For this, we are forever grateful . Your laughter and wicked sense of humor will be missed . You are at rest but our memories is what will sustain us during the difficult days ahead. Your light and spirit will live on in your children and grandchildren .
Rest In Peace!!
