Obituary of James Robert Spence, Jr.

James Robert Spence Jr. (Jim) Passed suddenly on 1/24/2020 in his hometown of Punta Gorda, FL. The only son born to James Robert Spence Sr. and Dorothy L. (Bates) Spence (both deceased) on 3/9/1967 in Dorchester, MA. Jim was an Automotive/Heavy Equipment Mechanic who for the past 1 1/2 years was employed with United Rentals. Jim was a wonderful man and father. He was a respected member of the working community. In his spare time Jim could most often be found boating, fishing and 4 wheeling with his sons. He was a man always willing to lend a helping hand. Jim had a heart of gold and a smile that can never be forgotten. Preceded in death by his wife Sarah. Survived by sons James Thomas Spence and Evan William Spence of Punta Gorda, FL., stepsons Brian Clark and wife Ashley of North Port, FL and Thomas Clark of North Port, FL, sisters Patricia McIntosh and husband Edgar of Winter Garden, FL, Deborah Dudley and husband Scott of Easley, SC, Catherine Fitzpatrick and husband Mark of Port Charlotte, FL and Susan Spence of Wareham, MA and nephew Raymond Brown and wife Mariah of Piedmont, SC. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren. A private service will be held on 2/7/20 for family and close friends.
