Obituary of William George Kendrick

William G Kendrick, "Twiggy", 84 Passed away Friday November 18, 2016. He was born May 24, 1932 at Jamaica Hospital in Queens New York. He was the last surviving son of 15 brothers and sisters born to Henry and Mary Kendrick. Bill was a long time resident of New York, where he retired from a 32 year career as a conductor with the Long Island Railroad. He has spent his retired years in Florida as a resident of Port Charlotte, North Port and most recently Lake Suzy where "every day was another ho hum day in paradise". He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Marion, and his two sons William and Keith and their spouses Deborah and Jackie. He had six grandchildren Kim, Nicole, Colleen, Andrea, Katlin and Kevin and six great grandchildren, Cali, Brandon, Will, Samantha, Hailey and Alexis. His smile and love for all of them will be greatly missed. Bill served in the Army during the Korean war and received two medals during his tour. He was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division the "Screaming Eagles" and as such his internment will take place with Army Honors at the National Cemetery in Sarasota Florida. Service will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery on December 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM followed by a celebration of life with friends and family. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
