Obituary of Gwen M. Butts

Gwen M. Butts passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 24, 2016 at the age of 96. Born on December 12, 1919 she was preceded in death by her husband John D. Butts. Gwen moved to Charlotte County in 1965 from Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She was a retired School Secretary with 20 years of service to Charlotte County Public Schools. She was a Member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church on Hariet Street, she served two terms of Congregational Care, and Led a Circle. She also served as the former President of Pilot International Club of Charlotte County, and Women's Welsh Club of Pittsburgh, PA. She is survived by her son Jonathan D. (Chris) of Port Charlotte, 2 granddaughters, Jodi A. (Rory) Booher of Port Charlotte, Corinne D. (Casey) Cole of Riverview, Fl, and 1 great granddaughter, Charlize Gwendolyn Cole also of Riverview, Fl. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Chapel 2230 Hariet Street Port Charlotte, Fl. Arrangements are being handled by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery (home of the Paul Schelm Chapel). Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial in Pittsburgh, Pa.
