Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Blob

Kenneth Eugene "Ken" Blob, 72, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away at his home on July 2, 2016. Ken was born in Baltimore, MD on August 24, 1943 to parents John Eugene Blob and Evelyn Geneva (Bauer) Blob. He is survived by his son David Blob (Mimi Duff) of Greenwich, CT and daughter Jennifer Boner (Christopher) of Purcellville, VA; brothers Ronald Finkner of Westminster, MD, Edward Finkner of Easton, MD and Richard Blob of Linthicum, MD; sisters Robin Finkner Lewis of Preston, MD, Carol Blob Webb of Linthicum, MD and Nancy Blob Mannion of Linthicum, MD; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Catherine (Kearney) Blob, step-father Carroll "Rock" Finkner, brother Mark Blob and sister Donna Finkner Leaguer. Ken graduated from Westminster High School, '61. After high school he entered the Marine Corps where he was assigned to Weather School, qualified for the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) program and subsequently attended the U.S. Naval Academy. He transferred to John Hopkins University where he completed both bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering. Ken worked at Black & Decker for his entire career at plants in Maryland and North Carolina. He retired to Florida where he enjoyed boating, fishing, biking, golf and volunteering with Toys for Tots. Evenings spent playing cards or Scrabble with Ken were filled with laughter. He was a numbers guy, recording spreadsheets of stock prices, gas and mileage, and football statistics by hand long before there was computer software to assist him. He loved the Baltimore Orioles and rarely missed a game. Ken will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. A memorial service to honor Ken's life will be held August 13 at 2:00 PM at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church, 2101 Westminster Pike, Finksburg, MD. 21048.
