Obituary of Phyllis A. Mitchell
Mrs. Phyllis Mitchell died on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her home in Port Charlotte, FL.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Dillon, SC February 22, 1944 to the late Rev. E. D. Caulder and Mrs. Dorothy (Causey) Caulder.
A graduate of Dillon High School, she worked and lived in Cartersville, GA; Fitchburg, MA; Lockport, NY; Starkville, MS; San Jose, CR; and St. Marys, GA. Upon retirement in Port Charlotte, she survived a bout with laryngeal cancer, learned to speak with a prosthetic device and enjoyed her life with friends and family.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who used her creativity to design purses, paint, sew, work with ceramics, and make art from everyday items.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Mitchell; uncles, Guy Causey and Elmer Causey; and grandmother, Daisy Causey.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her son, Rev. E. A. Mitchell and his wife June of Liverpool, NY and two grandchildren, Garrett Mitchell and Morgan Mitchell, also of Liverpool.
A service will be held 10 AM Thursday, June 23 at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Rd., Punta Gorda, FL.
Mrs. Mitchell will be buried alongside her parents at Riverside Cemetery, Dillon, SC
