Obituary of Alvin William Edson

Alvin W. Edson, 86 of Port Charlotte, FL passed away after a brief illness on June 5, 2016. He was born on July 2, 1929 in Rutland, VT to Otis and Ethel (Skeels) Edson. Alvin graduated Rutland High School in 1947. He then went on to graduate Cum Laude from the University of Vermont in Burlington in 1951, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Alvin began working at General Electric in Syracuse in 1951 and entered the Army in September 1954, proudly serving for three years as an SP3 Electrical Specialist for the Signal Corps in Okinawa. He returned to GE in 1957 and worked there until 1970. In 1972, Alvin began working for Link Simulation Product in Binghamton and remained there until his retirement in 1989. In 2002, he moved from Binghamton to Punta Gorda, FL. Alvin will be greatly missed by his dear friends. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, with a service starting at 1:30 PM, at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda 33950. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Rutland, VT.
