Obituary of Ruth Ann Read

Ruth Ann Read 79 of Punta Gorda, passed into the presence of her Lord May 9, 2016 at the Hope Hospice center In Lehigh Acres, Florida. She was the daughter of Margaret Park and John Park, born November 2, 1936 in Vevay, Indiana. Ruthie was a professional hair stylist and owned her own shop in Indianapolis, Indiana. She and her late husband moved to Florida in the 1980's, where she worked in Hotel Management at the Best Western and Holiday Inn of Key Largo. She loved sailing on the Carribean and boating on Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf where she found both so beautiful. Ruthie volunteered for the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County and the Bayfront Health center in Punta Gorda. She was a member of the Punta Gorda Boat Club and the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda where she enjoyed her small group, Gratitudes. Ruthie will be greatly missed by her husband Thomas Read; children, John Stone, Susan Wells, Robin Whitley, Jack Stone Jr., and Tiffany O'Connor. She will also be missed by her daughter-in-law Kim Stone of which Ruthie was like a Mother and both of her sons-in-law, seven grandchildren one great-grandchild, nieces and cousin. She was loved by all who knew her and those who met her on even one occasion. She was a easy person to spend time with. Because of her love of the ocean, Ruthie requested that her cremated remains be placed in the Atlantic Ocean near Key Largo, where she lived for many years. There will be a simple service, with a prayer of thanksgiving and committal of her remains to the sea. Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
