Obituary of Catherine B. Kolenda

Catherine B. Kolenda, age 86, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 21, 2016, in her home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Daniel Kolenda Sr., former pastor of Calvary Assembly of God Church and founder of Port Charlotte Christian School. Catherine was born in Detroit, MI, October 27, 1929 to Joseph and Selma (Finitzer) Kyre. Catherine, also lovingly known as "Grammy" to many, served faithfully in many different ministries at the church and school until her death. Catherine is survived by her children, Daniel (Elizabeth) Kolenda Jr., Esther (Richard) DiLena, Joanna (Jeffery) Valimont , John (Sharon) Kolenda and James (Carol) Kolenda; and brother, Frank Kyre, Sr. Catherine was a loving grandmother to 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 (TODAY) at Calvary Assembly of God, 3270 Sherwood Road, Port Charlotte, at 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM, respectively, with Entombment to immediately follow at Charlotte Memorial Cemetery, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, 33950.
