His stepdaughters, Donna Causey and Sandra Relich, both of Port Charlotte, FL regularly provided love and support that he appreciated greatly during the past few years. He was a draftsman for GE during World War II, and after the war he built homes in Topsfield, MA and surrounding towns. He continued in construction and installed specialty ceilings for many years until his retirement in 1988. He was a resident of Topsfield, MA for 63 years. He came from a family whose roots were set in Topsfield and the North Shore since colonial times. During the 1960s he served as a volunteer firefighter, and during the 1970s he was on the Board of Assessors. As a very special dad, he created opportunities and family memories of camping, fishing, sailing and skiing. His independent Yankee spirit made him a willing helper but a reluctant receiver. He and his wife, Betty, retired to Port Charlotte, FL in 1988 to fulfill his lifelong desire to live in FL. He was blessed with a 27-year retirement most of which was spent with his second wife, Anne, whom he married in 2000. He enjoyed reading, painting, woodcarving, and golf. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery in Topsfield, MA will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238, or to one's favorite charity.
