Obituary of Mildred P. Ashburn

Mildred P. Ashburn, 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida died peacefully Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, March 3, 1923, the daughter of Milton and Tiny (nee Mitchell) Peacock. Mildred retired from Charlotte County School System as a school bus assistant, a job she truly loved. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who cherished the time spent with her family. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Diana (Eugene) Remillard of Punta Gorda and Lurleen (Vincent) Tiscio of Port Charlotte; her son, James Edward (Becky) Ashburn, Jr. of Port Charlotte; brother, Leland Peacock of Clayton, NC; sister, Margie McCombs of Havelock, NC; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
