Obituary of Cliffton D. Warner

Cliffton D. Warner passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at his home in Punta Gorda. Cliff was born on February 19, 1930 in Gas City, Indiana to Mary and Charles Warner. Cliff attended school in Fairmount Indiana and graduated from Ball State University in Muncie Indiana. After serving in the US Navy, Cliff became a coach and teacher at various Indiana schools. He rose to the rank of Superintendent of Schools. After retiring from the state of Indiana, he became Associate Superintendent for Business Affairs in Illinois, and retired from Rockford City Schools. After initially retiring to Kentucky, he moved to Punta Gorda in 2000. Cliff attended Burnt Store Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing golf and bridge and family gatherings. He was a member of Rantoul Illinois Lodge #470, Fort Wayne Indiana Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine of Indianapolis. He was also a member of the American Legion, and a life member of the Elks Lodge #2606, and the Association of School Business Officials of the United States and Canada. He will be remembered as an excellent husband, father and grandfather by his family and friends. In addition to his wife of 64 years, Janet, he is survived by his daughter Jeri Warner of Boca Raton, Florida, his son Jon Warner of Port Charlotte, his granddaughter Amy (husband Yves) Goldberg of Athens, New York, and two grandsons Patrick and Trevor Warner of Orlando, Florida. Services will be held at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home at 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Rd. on Sept. 10, 2015. Fellowship will be held at 12:30 PM with service at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
