Obituary of Charles Allen Messner

Charles Allen "Al" Messner III, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015. Mr. Messner was born January 20, 1936 in Ashland, NJ to Charles Allen and Katherine (nee Fitch) Messner. He was a retired mechanic and worked for Chevrolet dealership for many years and his last years for Powerline Company. He served in the US Army from 1954-1958 and was a member of the Elks Club BPOE#2106 and member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda, FL. Al's greatest joy was spending time with his family and watching NASCAR and the Redskins. Al is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judith (nee McCleery) Messner of Port Charlotte; daughters, Peggy (T.J.) Sullivan, Charlene Pierson, and Christine (Kevin) DeVries; sons, Charles Allen IV (Andrea) and Richard (Elaine); 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, William (Rita) Messner; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00AM on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, 11330 Burnt Store Road in Punta Gorda. A Funeral Service will held at 11:00AM at the church. Burial will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
