Obituary of Mabel Elizabeth Bole

On June 26, 2015, Mabel Elizabeth (Joe) Updegraff Bole, 107, of Port Charlotte, FL (formerly of Williamsport PA) passed peacefully from her condominium home into the loving arms of Jesus, her Savior and Lord. Born in Williamsport, PA, on Tuesday, March 24, 1908, she was the only daughter of the late J. William and Anna L. (Mitcheltree) Updegraff. She was married to Elton W. Bole for 24 years prior to his death in 1974. Mabel was an 8th-grade graduate of the Oak Grove School after which she worked as a seamstress and floor lady at several sewing factories in Williamsport. Until her move to Port Charlotte in 1967, she was a member of St John's-Newberry UM Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She played the organ for several churches in Pennsylvania and Florida as well as in the Port Charlotte Culture Center. After moving, she joined the Port Charlotte UM Church and an organ club. Mabel is survived by several Port Charlotte friends, a long-time family friend, four step-children, ten step-grandchildren and twenty step-great-grandchildren. She helped raise her long-time friend Grace/Gigi (James) Beisel (CO), and one step-son, Melvin (Patricia) Bole, (PA). Other step-children include: Irwin (Butch) Bole (PA), Janice Naglowsly (PA) and Dorothea (George) Wimmer (FL). Mabel's step-grandchildren include: Paul, Nathan, Christina, Rebecca, Rachel, John, Jodi, Robert, Scott and Michelle. Her step-great-grandchildren include: Joseph, Andrew, Isabella, Grace, Isaac, David, Josiah, Joy, Micah, Judah, Joel, Arianna, Danielle, Brooke, Kaleb, Nathaniel, Noah, Christian, Anthony and Lauren. A graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Melvin D. Bole, will be held at 11:00AM on July 2, 2015 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, 1380 Forrest Nelson Boulevard in Port Charlotte.
