Obituary of Fred Harwood Baurenfeind

Fred Harwood Baurenfeind, 84, of Punta Gorda, died peacefully on August 9, 2011. He was born May 27, 1927, in Mineola, NY, son of the late Fred C. and Emily (Garrison) Baurenfeind. He served his country during WWII in the Navy. After serving, he followed in his father's footsteps and made his career as an executive with the New York Telephone Company. He was also a graduate of Brown University. When it came time to retire, he happily turned in his snow shovel, and headed for sunny Florida. Not quite ready for a life of leisure, he got his real estate license and worked for several more years. He loved motor boating and working with his hands; he could make anything out of wood. Fred was a member of many organizations, including the Sagamore Yacht Club, Oyster Bay, NY; Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club, where he was past commadore; CHYYC Chapter-Blue Gavel, Punta Gorda City Code Enforcement; and active Board and Committee Chairman of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda, and the Conquistador of Punta Gorda. He is survived by his daughters Susan Baurenfeind, Carol Frei, Linda Huber, son Kenneth Baurenfeind, 3 grandchildren Marie, Danielle, and Christine. He also leaves 2 great grandchildren. We take comfort in knowing that Fred is reunited with his beloved Dixie, who preceded him in death in April 2010. We will miss you Dad! A service to celebrate his life will be held at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home 9400 Indian Springs Road Punta Gorda. on Friday, September 9, 2011, at 11:00 AM.
