Obituary of Raymond B. Hunter

Raymond B. Hunter of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, went to be with his Lord, March 18, 2015. He was born April 10, 1926 in Swissvale, PA to John Raymond and Pearl Hunter. A US Navy veteran, he served during the end of World War II, and was stationed in the Philippines during the Korean War. For thirty-two years, he was a mail carrier for the US Post Office in Pittsburgh, PA. He enjoyed his work, and the people he served. Many times there was a fresh baked cookie handed to him or a glass of cold water on a hot summer day from families on his route. Living at three different residences in Monroeville, PA and Port Charlotte, FL, he always had the Stars and Stripes flying in their front yards, a true patriot who loved God and his country. He enjoyed gardening and passed this passion on to his children. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Faith Jane Stevens Hunter; daughters, Sarah Heavener (Donald) of Tallahassee, FL and Laura Bunnell (Doug) of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Brian Heavener (Marjorie) and Rebekah Morris (Kyle) of Tallahassee, FL, Emily Dixon (Jacob), Hayley Bunnell, and Stephen Bunnell of Port Charlotte, FL; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Grace Heavener of Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Frank Hunter (Sheron) of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Raymond, brother, Albert Hunter, and sister, Hazel Delaney.
