Obituary of Cedomir Miladinov

Čedomir Miladinov, age 74, passed on February 5, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at Complex Care Hospital in Sarasota, Florida, surrounded by members of his immediate family. Čedomir was born on August 25, 1940, in Čurug, Yugoslavia, to Marinko and Zora Miladinov. In April, 1964, he married his first wife, Branka. In November 1964, at age 24, Čedomir's father, a WWII veteran, fled socialist Yugoslavia with his entire family to avoid religious persecution. Čedomir was an industrious man, gifted for work in the manual trades. Transitioning from his training in Yugoslavia to be a ropemaker, he quickly adapted his skills and applied them to the knitting industry upon his arrival to America. Starting as a knitting machine operator, he learned to be a knitting machine mechanic, and eventually opened and ran several knitting mills of his own, before the industry ultimately was outsourced to Mexico and other locations overseas. Čedomir had 3 children: George, born in 1965, Lilliana, born in 1969, and Daniel, born in 1979. In May of 2002 Čedomir and Branka separated, and by 2004, their divorce was final. In 2006, he married Anna and gained a stepdaughter, Imola Ferencz and a stepson, Erno Abram. Čedomir was active in church. He was quick to help in whatever things needed doing around church, assisting wherever he could, however he could. He served in several ministerial capacities in the Astoria Seventh Day Adventist Church, in Astoria, Queens, New York. Some of the highlights: Čedomir was a Sabbath School teacher, elder, and translator from English to Serbo-Croatian. He helped coordinate the annual "ingathering" church donation drives. Čedomir played an advisory role in the founding of the First Russian Seventh Day Adventist Church in Queens. In North Port, Florida, he ran a small cassette ministry, duplicating recordings of sermons, discussions and question-and-answer sessions with pastor Pavle Borović, distributing them to friends and loved ones abroad. Čedomir was musically gifted as well - he enjoyed singing and participated in many church choirs, singing tenor. He played the violin and mandolin, and offered his musical accompaniments to many songs, programs and special occasions at church. Čedomir is survived by his loving wife Anna, his children: George, Lilliana and Daniel, stepchildren: Imola and Erno, grandchildren Michael and Milana; his brother Peter Miladinov, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. A happy soul, Čedomir could always be seen smiling, cracking a joke, filling the room and endearing everyone with his infectious laughter. He touched many lives and though he is gone now, we will never forget him.
