Obituary of Eugene L. Mammon

Eugene L. Mammon, 87 years young, died in Punta Gorda on January 25, 2015. He was born in Newark, NJ on August 25, 1927. Eugene had been a barber in New Jersey for more than 30 years. When he and his loving wife Stella moved here in 1988, the keen eye he developed cutting hair served him well as he launched into a second "career" making miniature buildings and structures. He was first inspired by a rendition of Charles Dickens' character Scrooge's house in a magazine. After replicating that house, he went on to build an amazingly life like and accurate replica of the Punta Gorda City Hall. It is so realistic that there is even miniature cigarette butts in the outside ashtrays. This building is on display at City Hall. When he died, Eugene was building a large replica of the Ca' d'Zan in Sarasota and the buildings on his Grandfather's farm. He was recently featured in Harbor Style Magazine. Eugene is survived by his wife Stella and many loving friends and family members. A memorial service and reception will be held at a later date.
