Obituary of Lawrence S. Gilbert

Lawrence S. Gilbert, 73, of Lake Suzy, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 surrounded by his wife, daughters, granddaughters and grandson. Lawrence was born in New Rochelle, NY. He graduated from the Peekskill Military Academy and served four years in the U.S. Army, working as a Warhead Specialist on the Corporal Missiles in White Sands, NM; the Fire Fighters Crash and Rescue team in Korea and Fort Ord, CA Fire and Rescue. Larry was very proud of his military service and was extremely patriotic his entire life. He worked for the Humble Oil accounting department, for the John Hancock Insurance Company and spent 35 years self-employed as a general contractor in Vermont. He was a proud member of the Elks Club of Rutland, VT for over 40 years. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Marilyn Ochs Gilbert, along with their family and friends. He will be missed for his sense of humor and his ability to tell a great story. No services will be held at this time.
