Obituary of Barbara Ann Barrow

Barbara ("Bonnie") Ann Barrow died after a long battle with Alzheimer's, Sunday, January 11, 2015. Bonnie was born August 26, 1926, in Birmingham, AL, to George and Mildred Hayden - one of five girls. She graduated from Tarrant High School in 1944 and worked at Young and Vann in Birmingham until she married John Henry Barrow II (the boy across the street) in 1946. She was a loving wife and mother with a great sense of humor; an exceptional tax preparer for H&R Block in Knoxville, TN, and Birmingham, AL; an accomplished contract bridge player; the favorite "Room Mother" in several schools; an excellent cook; and a fanatical Alabama football fan. Bonnie is survived by her devoted and loving husband, John Henry; her daughter, Cynthia (Edward) Beckett; her son, John Henry (JoEllen) Barrow III; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2 PM, at Royal Palm Retirement Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Research Center, 640 Jackson Street, St. Paul, MN 55101, to help halt the ravages of this terrible disease.
