Obituary of Dorothy Haynes Beers

Dorothy was born in Delhi, N.Y. and grew up in Walton, N.Y. in the Catskill Mountains. She graduated from Kings County Nursing School in Brooklyn, N.Y. as a Registered Nurse, and was in the Army Corp of Nurses during WWII. She worked as an R.N. for over 40 years in N.Y. before retiring to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1986 with her late husband Rex W. Beers (1990). Dorothy was a choir Soprano for 50 years at United Church of Christ (Liverpool, NY), and in Port Charlotte for the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Charlotte County Choral and the South Port Singers. Dorothy devoted her life to the care of others, and was a member of numerous civic organizations. Dorothy is survived by daughters; Carol Steene and husband Bill, Sharon Granzow and husband Brad, Michele Thompson and husband Daniel; her late daughter, Pamela Cameron's children; Wendy Carguello, Todd Beishline and Denise Cameron, and her 7 other grandchildren; Lindsay Geyer, Matthew Steene, Paul and Lauren Granzow, Danielle Stavropoulos, Brian and Erika Thompson, and 8 great grandchildren.
