Obituary of Joyce Ellen Sanguedolce

"GOD DANCED THE DAY YOU WERE BORN" Joyce Ellen Sanguedolce, 73 of Punta Gorda, Fla. went to be with our Lord Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. She was born Dec. 24, 1940 in Lawrence, Mass. Joyce was the most precious gift to her husband of 52 years, John Sanguedolce; and the most devoted and caring mother to her beautiful children. Joyce and her husband John raised their two loving children, John Jr. and Gina Marie in Methuen, Mass. Joyce was a graduate of Lawrence High School, McIntosh College School of Business and Greater Lawrence Vocational School of Cosmetology. Joyce was a retired financial manager for the City of Methuen, school department, a nutritional consultant and an award winning hair stylist. After retiring from the school department and the creative talent of helping women to look beautiful she then turned her talent into becoming a motivational and inspirational speaker for Weight Watchers International often lecturing to hundreds of people on the value of healthy eating and self esteem. Joyce and her husband John retired to Punta Gorda where she lived for the last 14 years. Retirement now offered other opportunities for Joyce, where she became president of the Punta Gorda Woman's Club helping abused women and children. It was during the aftermath of "Hurricane Charley" in her beloved community of Burnt Store Colony, Punta Gorda where Joyce continued to show her caring and willingness to help people. Joyce organized a group of ladies and together helped feed her neighbors providing over 3,000 meals. She then became a Red Hat Queen Mother of the Ruby Red Jewels. Joyce was also a writer having published several children's books and articles for the Charlotte Sun in addition to painting, where she earned several ribbons. She loved singing karaoke. Joyce's birthday was Christmas Eve and was always a special event celebrating with family and friends. Joyce is survived by her husband, John; son, John Jr. of Methuen, Mass.; daughter, Gina Marie of Methuen, Mass.; and grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher and Erick. She was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Ann; sister ;and parents. A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, Dec 16, at Sacred Heart Cathlolic Church, 211 W. Charlotte Ave., Punta Gorda.
