Obituary of Iris May Allwood

Iris May ��Nicey" Allwood, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on August 1, 2014. She was born to the late Edward and Violet Allwood in Kingston JA on May 8th, 1933. Iris was a woman rich in faith and talent. She worked two full time jobs as nurse's aide for decades. She loved to care for people, always treating the slightest ailments of her loved ones with herbs and natural home remedies. In addition, Iris had a beautiful and powerful singing voice. One of her favorite hymns was "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms". She never stopped singing. Her singing turned to humming even in her final days of suffering. Throughout her life, Iris became engrossed in Scripture and would read and pray often. Iris loved the Lord and was a dedicated servant and prayer warrior in the Seventh Day Adventist church. Iris was also endearingly known as Nicey, Auntie, Mommy, GGmama, Mumsy and Sister to her loved ones and church family. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her 5 children, daughters Lorna Cunningham, Adelle Sabga, Andrea Nugent, Angela Denis and son Willow Wilson along with 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A public viewing will be held Wednesday, August 13 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Thursday, August 14 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road in Punta Gorda. Services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM with entombment following in Tranquilty Hall mausoleum. Following entombment, a reception will be held at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home.
