Patsy, I know I am truly a voice from the deep past but I do want to offer my condolences. I truly understand the loss of a brother as we lost my brother David last year. I wish you peace. Evelyn Sweeney Garverich, Denver, Colorado, evesg@comcast.net

Art was a good friend during our years at Fairfax High and beyond, and we both belonged to the Class of 1957. We shared interests in golf, cars, beer, girls, etc., all common pursuits of adolescent boys in the 1950s. I particularly recall our marathon rounds of golf at the old Fairfax Country Club in the summer of 1957, when we played 72 holes in one day. We also spent quite a bit of time running around in Art's cars -- I recall a 1950 or 1951 Ford Coupe (metallic blue), a 1953 Corvette, a 1958 Chevie, and an ancient Hillman Minx. After being out of touch for some years, we got back in contact about 15 years ago, and stayed in e-mail contact since. It was great to see him again at our 50th highschool class reunion in 2007. I'll miss him a lot.

I last saw and talked with Art at our high school 50th Reunion, October 2007. Since HS, our paths never crossed that I know of. Art was in the US Army for a while and I went a different route going into and staying with US Navy for almost a life-time. I and our FHS Class of 1957 classmates were looking forward to seeing Art next year at our 55th Reunion. Alas, Art has gone ahead to visit classmates who are already there and will welcome the rest of us who have delayed crossing over the River Jordan. RIP Art.

Although we've seen Art rarely in the last several years, he has been an important friend for half our lives. He was inquisitive and smart with a sense of humor. Always a pleasure to have been with him. I think had Brendan lived, he would have been very like his father. Our family's world is a lesser place without them.

I wanted to offer you my condolences. He was a great friend to my father. He was very quick witted and always a pleasure to be around. I always enjoyed myself when he and my father were together. Give his family my best wishes.
