Thank you, Claudia. It makes me so happy to hear from people that were so important to my Dad. Even though you didn't get to tell him in person, he knows now. There are many things I wish I had gotten to say, but it helps to remember that now he knows all the things we didn't tell him whether he knew them when he was here or not.

One of the greatest gifts Dad gave me was an independent mind. He always wanted me to think about what made sense, and what did I believe and WHY. Oddly enough, that's why some of my favorite memories of Dad are arguments (mostly political) over the dinner table that continued after everyone else was done and gone. I think he enjoyed them as much as I enjoy remembering them. He stretched mental muscles in a way no one else could have. I also remember Dad's Cutty Sark model, and the cats that tangled the rigging strings. He kept it around for a long time, always swearing he'd untangle the strings and build the model, but he never did (we offered to help, but he insisted on doing it himself - makes me understand my hubby and his car models better). I am so glad to read everyone's notes and know that he was truly loved. Thank you all. Daddy, now you'll have an angel's-eye view of the Indy 500!

The fact that Christopher let Bob rest his hand on his shoulder was a big deal. Christopher's autism sometimes makes him a little hard to relate to, but Bob was great with him.

Bob lived across the street from myself, my son (Christopher) and our caregiver (Amy) here in Muncie. He was a wonderful neighbor, kind "grandfather" figure to Christopher and intelligent and insightful man. We miss him very much. I wish that we could have been there to tell him one more time how much he added to our world....Rest in Peace, Bob.

your dad's face just beamed when he would talk about visiting St. Louis and spending time with his family. He had hoped to do it again.

I just learned today of Bob's passing when I tried to call his cell phone and got a disconnect message. We were Bob's neighbor for 3 years. Christopher (in the picture) loved going to visit Bob and Bob always shared his newspapers with him. Bob was great with Christopher, understanding that his Autism caused him to be shy even though he wanted to interact, Bob built a relationship with him based on mutual interest. Bob was also very helpful to us. Whether he was mowing the yard, moving the trash, finding help to clean up snow, he always had such a giving spirit. We miss him.

My favorite memory of my Dad: The last time I saw him (last summer), he and I hung out and just talked about anything and everything until about 1am. The next day, Raja and I took him all around St. Louis to show him all of the things that have changed since he moved. We took him down to see the new stadium, drove him through Chesterfield, and even took him to New Town to show him where we want to move. We got a history lesson on St. Louis as we drove around because of course Dad knew everything. We took him to a brew house and restaurant for dinner and then sat and talked at our house for a while before he left to head home. It was the best day I ever had with my Dad, and I am so thankful that I got the chance to spend a day with him. I love him so much, and I miss him every day.

Some of my favorite memories of dad....sitting in his big rig when he drove for Ward & Mack, and going on Father/Daughter scout camp every year. He was also a Scoutmaster for the boy scouts. It was always "early lights out" at the daughter cabins, but he would let me and my friends stay up late with our dads and have bonfires. I also remember him grilling every Sunday during summer and his corkball games every Saturday.
I only have one photo of him, and I realized why...he was usually the one behind the camera, he took a lot of pictures and super 8 movies. He was one of a kind.

I spent a lot of time at Bob and Beth's house growing up and Bob was like a second dad. He was always up for a very intelligent conversation and was good at making people laugh. He will be greatly missed.

Bob was my best friend, we'd go to the Nascar races, he loved anything Historial, doing puzzles, & more. He would help those who needed help, we worked together on doing our Kitchen in Winfield, also siding on the house, bob could do anything.
He loved his family even though it was hard for him to show it. Very smart man .
We were neighbors in O'fallon , worked together in General Motors, he was a hard worker.Miss you buddy, wish we could have talked before this day came you'll always be in my heart. Our Deepest Sympathy to Beth, Kathy, & Family
