Obituary of H. Ray Galpin

H. Raymond (Ray) Galpin, 85.5 of Punta Gorda, FL went to his heavenly home on January 22, 2014. He was born June 12, 1928 in Oak Park, Illinois. Preceded in death by his parents, Florence Violet (Duke), and Raymond Frank Galpin, sister Marilyn Wegner, and wife Estelle Ruth "Pat" (Thoen) Galpin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith (Botsford) Galpin, 3 sons, Michael of Austin,TX, Thomas of Decatur, IL David of Payson, AZ and daughter Susan Sams (and husband Jeffrey) of Decatur, Illinois. Ray was blessed to have 10 grandchildren and 6.5 great grandchildren. Raymond was a plastics engineer, retiring from Illinois Tool Works in Chippewa Falls, WI in 1995 at which time he moved to sunny Florida. Raymond was always an outdoor enthusiast with all water activities......he was very active at swimming, hockey, speed skating, kayaking, dragon boat racing, rollerblading, sailing, and boating. He was a member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, Punta Gorda, Florida. There will be a Celebration of Life service at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, Punta Gorda FL on Saturday, January 25 at 11 am.
