Obituary of Richard A Cyr

Richard A. Cyr, Sr. 84, of Punta Gorda, went to be with the Lord On Monday, October 28, 2013 in Port Charlotte under the care of Hospice at Peace River Regional Hospital. He was born January 29, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Arsene Thomas and Alida Blanche (nee; DuBois) Cyr. Served honorably during WWII in the U.S. Army, then continued his dedication for working for over 40 years for IBM and retired as a executive. He married his beautiful bride of 63 years, on September 9, 1950 and was blessed with 8 children. Retiring to Punta Gorda in Jan 1994 he was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Punta Gorda. He was preceded in death by his brother's, Wilfrid, Raymond, and sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; son, Richard A. (Dianne )Cyr, Jr. of Manassas, VA, Christian Louis Cyr, of Saugerties, NY and Ronald Lee Cyr, of Palm Bay, FL; daughters, Victoria Lynn Cyr of Fishkill, NY, Valerie Ann (William) Landell of Marlton, NJ, Lisa Carol (Scott) Lang of Woodstock, IL, Melissa Carol (Howard) Vallimont of Woodstock, GA, Janice Leigh (Dave) Morgan, of New Paltz, NY; 19 grandchildren, Trey, Christian, Christine, Amy, Billy, Ashley, Danny, Whitney, Cassandre, Laura, Michael, Megan Elizabeth, Jessica, Megan Lynn, Alicia, Ryan, Kyle, Kerry, and Shane and 7 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Faith Lutheran Church of Punta Gorda, FL Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33950 and receive on Monday, Nov 4, at 11:00 AM until Service time. Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Army Honors to follow.
