Obituary of Eileen J. Donoghue

Eileen Donoghue, 86, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away July 9, 2013 at Consulate Health Care of Port Charlotte. Mrs. Donoghue was born March 5, 1927 in Lisboney House, Nenagh, County Tipperary, Ireland to Thomas and Josephine O'Brien. Eileen moved to Port Charlotte at the age of 79. She loved the USA and became a citizen at age 84. Eileen was no stranger to the USA. In order to keep an eye on her daughter, Ann, when Ann got married in 1990, she would visit Ann for 3 months, once a year, every year. She visited several states such as Texas, Virginia, and her favorite, Hawaii. Eileen had a passion for caring for others, in-fact she dedicated her life to helping others. Eileen is survived by her two daughters, Ann (Donald) Ham of Port Charlotte, FL and Mary (Mike) Bloomfield of Peacehaven, Sussex, UK; 2 grandchildren, Suzann (Nafiz) Abu-Ramadan of Spain and Amanda (Matt) Bird all of the United Kingdom; and 3 great-grandchildren. Eileen had an aria of friends. Some of her closest she left in England, Eilish Walls, Daphne and Edgar Stevens, Eileen Higgins, Danny Kociucki and Teresa Nolan, all of the United Kingdom. Eileen had 2 brothers, Thomas and John O'Brien; one sister, Maureen Mitchell; and one grandchild, Neil Johnson who preceded her in death. Eileen's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and CNA's at Consulate Health Care especially Wanda, Audrey, Nemma, Jamia, Octavia, Ann Maria, and Dee, and a big, extra special thank you to Odile. Your extra special care in our time of need will never be forgotten. There will be a gathering of family and friends at 6:00PM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Family Table Restaurant, 14132 S. Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL 34287. Interment will be in Ireland at a later date. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Instead, preferred donations may be made in loving memory of Eileen to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34288.
