Obituary of Maurice O Whipple

Maurice O. Whipple “PeeWee”, 81, left us unexpectedly on March 2, 2023. He was a long-time resident of Goffstown and spent his later years between Bradford, NH and Punta Gorda, FL. Being around water was a passion for him. In NH, he spent many years on Lake Horace. When he wasn’t pulling skiers, he could often be seen waterskiing himself, and many times without skis! During NH winters, he frequently hiked and skied Tuckermans, and spent a month traveling Europe and skiing the Alps with his wife, Cynthia. His other favorite winter activity was snowmobiling which included an occasional race around the oval. While in Florida, PeeWee kept active boating, reading, and playing cards. He also spent many wonderful evenings among friends dancing at The Elks with Cynthia. They were talented, amazing dancers together, and the “cutest couple on the floor!” PeeWee was a hard worker and believed in “do it right the first time, or don’t do it at all.” He followed in his father’s footsteps as an Electrical Contractor. He was a 32 Degree Master Mason for over 40 years with the Bible Lodge No. 27 and reached the chairs as a Senior Warden. He was an Officer of the 2nd section of the Bektash Temple Shriners and also had a few degrees in the Scottish Right as well. Additionally, he was a member of the National Ski Patrol and worked at many New Hampshire Mountains. PeeWee immensely enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a quick sense of humor, and loved to tell stories. PeeWee was very proud of his children and was an amazing force in their lives. He provided a positive influence and a patient perspective on daily life, work issues, or whatever you wanted to talk about. Many after dinner conversations were spent “chewing the fat” and ‘solving the world’s problems.’ He will be greatly missed. PeeWee was predeceased by his parents Otis B. Whipple and Mildred R. Whipple. He is survived by the love of his life for 62 years, Cynthia H. Whipple. A sister Maita Whipple, a daughter Heidi W. Gorman and her husband Carey. Two sons Eric B. Whipple and his wife Tracey, Hans O. Whipple and his wife Jessica, six grandchildren Sarah and Ryan Gorman, Otis, Owen, Noah and Eli Whipple and two great grandchildrenColton and Payton L’Heureux, a cousin, nieces and nephews. We love you and miss you Husband, Dad, Grampa, Friend. The family will hold a burial service sometime in the Spring at Westlawn Cemetery in Goffstown.
