Marie Sarko

Obituary of Marie Therese Sarko

I was born in Dearborn, Michigan on September 25, 1927 to James and Rose Meade. I was a middle child, sandwiched between my two sisters, Coletta and Joan. I lived in Cleveland, Ohio for 46 years. There I graduated from West High School in 1944. On May 7, 1949, I married my sweetheart, Steve M. Sarko. Together we were blessed with seven children. In 1973, we moved to Florida. More blessings filled my life as God added to my family. I had 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Over the years I had many different occupations, but the one I enjoyed the most was working in the medical field. When I retired I spent time volunteering at my church where I helped with fund raising events and food programs. In my community, I helped with the screening of new residents, holiday BBQ’s, and driving in the patrol car. My spiritual life was the most important to me. I was a devote Catholic and was a faithful member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church, where I served as Eucharistic Minister. In my free time I loved to swim, cross stich, garden, read, play cards, movie night at the clubhouse, gatherings with family and friends….I truly enjoyed life! Over the years I had to say goodbye to many loved ones which included my parents, my in-laws, my two sisters, my husband, three of my children, Stephen, Coletta and David and my dear grandson, Mark. On February 19, I was ushered into my eternal “Home” and left my legacy to live on in my remaining children, Tim, Don, Terri and Karen, and their spouses, my many grands, great grands and great, great grands. Although I am no longer walking with you, always remember God will always love you and so will I. Marie, Therese, Mom, Granny bird, GG, GGG, XXOO Celebration of Life will be on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 3033 NW 33rd Avenue, Lauderdale Lakes, FL.
