Obituary of Frederick D Sawyers

Frederick D. Sawyers, age 87, of Plainfield, Indiana and Punta Gorda, Florida, passed on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 and is now at peace. He was born in Mooresville, IN on November 17, 1935, the son of Lee & Mary Evelyn (Evans) Sawyers. He was a 1953 graduate of Martinsville High School. He worked at Citizens Gas for 38 years. He was a Hendricks County Reserve Deputy, held elected office as Washington Township Assessor and enjoyed being a landlord. He loved to tinker, could fix anything and enjoyed helping others. He loved traveling, seeing all 50 States, golfing with friends, playing cards, and watching college basketball. He raced cars in his youth, and enjoyed watching auto sports throughout life. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara(Lewis) Sawyers of Avon; children, Greg (Cindy) Sawyers, Susan (Eric) Elliott and Fred (Jen London) Sawyers. He was a proud grandfather to, Shelby Sawyers, Logan Sawyers, Riley (Sydney) Sawyers, Alex Elliott and Nick Elliott. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Forest, Gerald, Robert, Louis, and sister Frances (Robert) Leitzman. A celebration of life open house will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Lakewood Village Club House from 2:00 to 5:00 in Punta Gorda.] A celebration of life will be held at the Plainfield First Baptist Church later this Summer.
