We all loved Steven, our cousin. Lots of great memories growing up together... we spent weekends on the beach together sleeping on the sand, building bonfires with tires, while our fathers fished in the ocean. Our Dads would then smoke mullet. When Steven and I were teenagers, we gave our parents a scare by taking our small kayak out and peddling all the way across Little Sarasota Bay. I remember our parents frantically taking out the Octopussy vessel to come and retrieve us (we didn't think we needed rescuing). I remember our mothers packing us in the station wagon and heading for the drive-in. We went to see the movie Billy Jack but left early when a naked scene came on.
We had the best life growing up together with our cousins; there was a total of seven of us that could play from break of sunlight to late hours of nightfall.
