Obituary of Steven R Meyer

Steven Robert Meyer (“Steve”) was born September 14, 1948 to the late Charles and Joan Meyer in Huntington, Indiana. On November 5, 2022, he passed away in Port Charlotte, Florida, secure in his faith about where he will be going next. Despite battling cancer, Steve kept his sense of humor right up until the very end, often cracking jokes and smiling even in difficult circumstances. Steve grew up in Huntington and North Manchester, Indiana. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1967 and attended Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne. Steve served in the National Guard in the early 1970s. He spent most of his working career working for his family business, Meyer Motors, in Liberty Mills, Indiana. On February 27, 1971, he married Karen Meyer in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Steve, known as a jack of all trades who could fix anything, basically built their family home where they raised their two children, Doug and Shawna. Steve and Karen lived in North Manchester, Indiana until 2002, when they moved to southwest Florida. Karen passed away unexpectedly in 2009. A few years later, Steve met Carol Leasure at his church, and on October 27, 2012 they were married not in their church but in Las Vegas, Nevada! Steve and Carol loved to travel and went on many cruises throughout their marriage. Steve enjoyed life in Florida, playing golf on a regular basis and often getting together with friends for drinks at the Elks, cards, or even just drinks in the driveway. Steve is survived by Carol Meyer, his wife of ten years; his children, Doug (Shana Louder) Meyer and Shawna (Michael) Eikenberry; his three beloved granddaughters, Amanda Meyer and Audrey and Claire Eikenberry; his sister, Carole (Ron) Fraley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, friends, and others who knew and loved him. There will be a viewing Friday November 11, 2022 from 10am to 11am with a funeral service starting at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Restlawn Cemetery at 1:30pm.
