Janet Jane King went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 26, 2022. Janet was born in Marion, Indiana on August 21, 1934. She loved life and always lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, games with her friends and most of all spending time with her family. In 1967, the family relocated to Stevensville, Michigan and she worked for Heath Company in St. Joseph, Michigan for 17 years.
Janet is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Don) Beezley and Kathy (Briyin) Butgereit, and a stepson, John (Trish Hurley) Fones. She always had a special bond with her grandson Andy (Keri) Jackson and his children, Grace, Brady and Drew. When Andy was little he gave his grandmother the nickname of “Honey” which was used by all of her other grandchildren, Joey (Ali) Fones and Ginny (Ben) Klinger and their families.
Janet was preceded in death by two wonderful husbands. She was married to Dale Fones for many years until his passing in 1987. In 1989, Janet married Donald King and was accepted into the family of his adult children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many years of being in this family until Don’s passing in 2011.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Sim and Bertha Collins, brothers, Sim Collins Jr., James Collins, Ferman Collins, a sister Linda Woodring and a son Michael Blake.
Due to hurricane Ian, a memorial service will be held at New Life in Christ Church (formerly 1st United Methodist Church) in Punta Gorda at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to New Life in Christ Church Today Matters Mental Health Ministry or Tidewell Hospice.
