Obituary of Edith Walzer

Passed away peacefully September 8, 2022 at age 98. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she began life in a farmhouse in Kendaia, NY. She grew up during the depression, and at 18 dove in to join the war effort after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She secured a job at the Seneca Army Depot packing and loading bombs. After the war, she moved to Rochester, NY and took a job at Kodak. It was in Rochester that she met Clyde (Charlie) Walzer, a World War II navy veteran, and they soon married. They lived in Rochester for 35 years, until Charlie retired, and then moved to Punta Gorda Florida, where they enjoyed another 30 years. After Charlie died, Edith moved to Largo to live with her daughter. Described by her son-in-law as a ray of sunshine, she had an amazing sense of humor that remained with her until the very end. Edith is predeceased by her husband Charlie She is survived by daughter Ann Walzer and husband John Phipps, daughter Linda Tapogna, Grandchildren Shannon May, Michelle Tapogna, Ryan Tapogna, great grandsons Ethan and Nathaniel Dotts,. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Punta Gorda at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home on November 12th at 1 pm.
