Obituary of Sally Long

Sally Long passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at her home after a courageous and lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on August 27, 1941 in Geneseo, Illinois to Lyman and Elsie (Williams) Withrow. Sally attended Geneseo schools before attending Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. She is survived by her long time Life Partner Don Plitnick with whom she shared many of life’s adventures, travels and numerous friends. She is also survived by son James Little, his wife Nene and three grandchildren, and son Andrew Little and his wife Joann. Sally earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Regis College and retired from Dietrich Standards in Boulder, Colorado where she was a controller. She was active in several activities, enjoyed playing gold, and doing puzzles of any kind. Sally always had an adventurous spirit and loved life, music, dancing, traveling and of course being with Don, wherever their adventures took them. They spent many years together in the mountains of Colorado before retiring and moving to Florida. Their adventures took them sailing both in Pacific, Gulf Coast and Caribbean waters in addition to travel in their motor home. Sally also enjoyed flying with Don and was a valued co-pilot on many trips around the United States. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or a charity of your choice.
