Obituary of Alma Virginia Bowers

Alma Virginia “Ginger” Bowers (Nichols), of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on March 26, 2021 from a long battle with multiple medical conditions. She was 78 years old. Alma was born on November 19, 1942 to parents James and Edith Nichols in Newport News, Virginia. Alma graduated from the Covington (VA) high school, Class of 1960. She then went to Radford College earning an Associate’s Degree, and graduated from the University of Richmond as a Radiologic Technologist. She was a radiologic technologist in the Phoenixville (PA) Hospital for 20 years. On December 29, 1973 she was married to Charles J Bowers Jr. Alma was a native of Port Charlotte for 3 years, and lived in Royersford, PA for the prior 38 years. She had many interests and hobbies including reading, latch hook, sewing, horses, spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and nature. Alma was predeceased by her parents James Daniel Nichols and Edith Royal Nichols. She is survived by her husband, Charles J. Bowers Junior; sister, Joyce Mahon; sons, Daniel J. Bowers (Lisa A Bowers (Bevan)) and Jeffrey N. Bowers (Jaime Bowers (Cindrich)); and grandchildren, Caitlyn Bowers, Nathaniel Bowers, Cayden Bowers, Mason Bowers, and Eliana Bowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation at 30 East 33rd St, New York, NY 10016 or by visiting www.kidney.org. There will be a brief visitation on Saturday, July 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will start at 10:30 a.m. in our chapel followed by a celebration of life reception. All services will be held at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, located at 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road in Punta Gorda, Florida 33950.
