Obituary of Gerald Kolavic

BEAVER COUNTY - Dr. Jerry Kolavic, 85, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021, in Florida. Born in Aliquippa, PA to the late Theodore & Veronica Kolavic, Jerry grew up working in his parent’s bar, Ted’s Ravine Tavern at the corner of Kennedy Blvd and Upland Street. After graduating Aliquippa High School in 1954, he attended Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and later completed a residency in anesthesia. Affectionately known as “Dr. K” to patients, friends and colleagues, he opened his first dental office on Kennedy Blvd in Aliquippa in the early 1960’s. Over his 40 year career he cared for many patients and provided anesthesia or sedation for those who were disabled or simply afraid of the dentist. He worked hard and enjoyed life, retirement did not slow him down. He enjoyed vintage cars and antiques, horseback riding, traveling across the country in his motor home, and spending time with family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerald Kolavic Jr, and a brother, Ted Kolavic Jr. He is survived by his loving daughters, Debbie and Shellie, as well as a son-in-law, two grandchildren and many close friends who will miss him dearly.
