Geraldine Dilts

Obituary of Geraldine Dilts

Geraldine M. Dilts of Punta Gorda, Florida, died on February 10th, 2021 in Venice, Florida at the age of 91. She was born on April 4th, 1929. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1946 and married her husband, Theodore L. Dilts, in 1951. Upon retiring, they moved from Phillipsburg, NJ to Punta Gorda, FL. Geraldine was a medical secretary in public health and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda. She loved to knit, play bingo, and enjoyed all activities with her many friends in her Buttonwood Village community. Geri was the sweetest and kindest person there ever was. She could, and did, make friends with anyone she met, and this last year was especially hard missing clubhouse coffees, lunches out, and trips to the movies and symphony with dear friends. She was generous, with her time and her love, as evidenced by the countless hand knit baby blankets she donated, and the annual Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida pantry parties she hosted. She was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who cherished pictures and visits with family, and showing them off to her friends whenever she had the chance, the kind of grandmother who stuck $5 for a “treat” in every birthday card sent. She was given to because she gave. She was loved because she loved. And while we could write novels about those things we love and will miss about her, the truest thing to know is this: the world will forever be a better place because she was in it and there's no better way to be remembered. Geri was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Theodore Dilts, in 2006, and her grandson, Jason B. Miller in 1997. Geri is survived by five children, Dianne Miller (Britt), Charles Dilts, David Dilts (Andrea), Judi Hashagen and Su Morin (Jean), 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, her sister Arlene Lane, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be held in Clinton, NJ. Details about a memorial celebration of life will be provided at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the following: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida 16100 Roserush Ct. Fort Myers, FL 33908.
